Students Plant 20,000 Grass Stalks To Rebuild Dunes

Following storm damage in 2024, University of New England students and volunteers undertook a second dune restoration at Biddeford Pool. They planted 20,000 grass stalks across 20,000 square feet to rebuild the eroded dunes. Researchers are also studying factors like grass spacing, wind, and waves to understand dune recovery processes. This effort aims to protect the coastline from future storm impacts and erosion.
