A 10-member medical team from MGM Healthcare travelled to Karbala, Iraq, to perform complex heart and lung surgeries using minimally invasive techniques. The procedures were conducted through small incisions, with one patient weighing 100kg undergoing beating-heart bypass surgery for blocked blood vessels. In addition to treating patients with life-threatening conditions, the team also provided hands-on training to local medical professionals in these advanced surgical methods. Minimally invasive procedures offer benefits like reduced pain, less blood loss, and faster patient recovery.
