BBC World · world
The eldest son of Kenyan cult leader Paul Mackenzie, convicted of murdering 191 people, has revealed that his younger siblings were still being subjected to forced fasting as recently as two weeks ago. Dan Mackenzie reported the situation to police, leading to the rescue of eight children, including his five siblings, from their grandmother's home. His father had ordered followers to starve themselves and their children to death to 'meet Jesus'. Mackenzie's doctrine also forbade education and considered modern medicine evil. The verdict brings some comfort to victims' families.
