CAG Flags Irregularities in Odisha DMF Fund Utilisation

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India has uncovered significant irregularities in the use of District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds in Odisha. These funds are designated for people and areas impacted by mining operations. The CAG report indicates that funds were spent without following established rules, and a new category called "Common affected areas" was created to accommodate ineligible spending. This new category allowed for expenditure beyond the stipulated 40% limit for indirectly affected areas in districts like Keonjhar and Sundargarh.
