जापान में पहली बार 100 साल या उससे ज़्यादा उम्र के लोगों की संख्या 1 लाख के पार हो गई है। अब ऐसे 1.07 लाख से ज़्यादा लोग हैं। इनमें करीब 88% महिलाएं हैं। हेल्थ एक्सपर्ट्स का कहना है कि ये लंबी उम्र लाइफस्टाइल की वजह से है, जिसमें वे सिर्फ़ ज़िंदगी की लंबाई नहीं, बल्कि 'हेल्थस्पैन' यानी सेहतमंद ज़िंदगी पर ध्यान देते हैं। इसमें सोच-समझकर खाना, कम मात्रा में खाना, रोज़ाना एक्टिव रहना जैसे काम और चलना-फिरना, और मज़बूत सोशल सपोर्ट सिस्टम शामिल हैं। ये आदतें सेहत और लंबी, स्वस्थ ज़िंदगी को बढ़ावा देती हैं।
