Times of India · environment
The Centre has urged Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi-NCR authorities to adopt a "mission mode" approach to prevent stubble burning. This directive comes as farm fires have sharply increased in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, with Madhya Pradesh seeing a 452% rise and Rajasthan a 200% increase. Union ministers emphasized the need for on-ground action rather than paperwork, especially with the Rabi crop sowing season approaching. States are instructed to hold immediate meetings with district magistrates to implement practical solutions and monitor the situation closely.
