Assam Govt Approves Rs 177 Crore Underground Cabling

The Assam government has approved a Rs 177.46-crore underground cabling project for central Guwahati to enhance the power distribution network. This initiative will shift existing overhead power lines underground across 18 km in priority areas like Paltanbazar and GS Road. The project aims to improve power supply reliability, reduce vulnerability to weather, and create a cleaner cityscape by decluttering the skyline. It is funded through savings under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme and designed to accommodate future load growth.
