UPI Payments Above Rs 2,000 To Attract MDR

From October 15, 2026, a 0.4% Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) will apply to person-to-merchant UPI transactions exceeding Rs 2,000. This fee, capped at Rs 300 for transactions of Rs 75,000 and above, will be distributed within the UPI ecosystem to fund infrastructure, innovation, cybersecurity, and customer service. Crucially, person-to-person UPI transactions and P2M transactions up to Rs 2,000 will remain free for consumers, ensuring UPI's continued accessibility for everyday use.

से ऊपर UPI भुगतान पर लगेगा MDR

अक्टूबर 2026 से, 2,000 रुपये से ज़्यादा के UPI ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर 0.4% MDR लगेगा। 75,000 रुपये या उससे ज़्यादा के ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर यह फीस ज़्यादा से ज़्यादा 300 रुपये होगी। यह पैसा UPI सिस्टम को बेहतर बनाने, नई तकनीक लाने, साइबर सुरक्षा और कस्टमर सर्विस के लिए इस्तेमाल होगा। अच्छी बात ये है कि लोगों के बीच होने वाले UPI ट्रांज़ैक्शन और 2,000 रुपये तक के ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर कोई चार्ज नहीं लगेगा।
