In Rajasthan's Pali district, the historic village of Auwa is home to Sugali Mata, a unique deity revered for her role in the 1857 First War of Independence. This black stone idol, featuring 10 heads and 54 arms, is believed to have instilled fear in the powerful British forces. Local ruler Thakur Kushal Singh Champawat invoked her blessings, leading to significant defiance against the British. The British, in their fear and frustration, eventually desecrated the idol. Later, the statue was re-established, symbolizing continued devotion and historical significance.
