Flipkart Fined For Delivering Soap Instead Of Phone

A Delhi consumer commission has ordered Flipkart to pay Rs 10,574 to a customer who received soap bars instead of a Realme Narzo 50A mobile phone. The customer had ordered the phone for Rs 10,574 on October 24, 2021, and received the package the next day. Flipkart argued it was an intermediary and not liable, but the commission found it had a responsibility to support customers. The platform was also ordered to pay Rs 5,000 for mental harassment and Rs 5,000 for litigation expenses.

दिल्ली के एक कंज्यूमर कमीशन ने Flipkart को एक ग्राहक को Realme Narzo 50A मोबाइल फोन की जगह साबुन की टिकिया भेजने पर 10,574 रुपये का भुगतान करने का आदेश दिया है। ग्राहक ने 24 अक्टूबर 2021 को 10,574 रुपये में फोन ऑर्डर किया था और अगले दिन उसे पैकेज मिला। Flipkart ने दलील दी कि वह एक मध्यस्थ है और उत्तरदायी नहीं है, लेकिन कमीशन ने पाया कि ग्राहकों का समर्थन करने की उसकी जिम्मेदारी है। प्लेटफॉर्म को मानसिक उत्पीड़न के लिए 5,000 रुपये और मुकदमेबाजी खर्च के लिए 5,000 रुपये का भुगतान करने का भी आदेश दिया गया था।
