Iraq has lost approximately $60 billion in oil revenues due to disruptions caused by the Iran war affecting exports through the Strait of Hormuz. Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi stated that the country was temporarily unable to export about 90 percent of its oil. This crisis exacerbates Iraq's economic challenges, as oil revenues constitute over 90 percent of its federal budget. The conflict also increased shipping costs and exposed Iraq's reliance on imported gasoline, despite being a major crude producer.
