Nagpur Tree Authority Halts IGGMCH Project Tree Felling Without Environmental Clearance

The Tree Authority at Nagpur Municipal Corporation has put a hold on tree felling for Indira Gandhi Govt Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) expansion projects. Committee members stated that the hospital had not obtained the mandatory Environmental Clearance (EC). Municipal commissioner Vipin Itankar withdrew his initial decision to allow felling of two heritage trees, making permission conditional on IGGMCH obtaining EC. The same condition applies to a proposal for an auditorium. NMC Town Planning Department has also put building plan approvals on hold due to the absence of EC.

नागपुर म्युनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन की ट्री अथॉरिटी ने इंदिरा गांधी गवर्नमेंट मेडिकल कॉलेज एंड हॉस्पिटल (IGGMCH) के विस्तार परियोजनाओं के लिए पेड़ काटने पर रोक लगा दी है। समिति के सदस्यों ने कहा कि अस्पताल ने अनिवार्य पर्यावरण मंजूरी (EC) हासिल नहीं की थी। म्युनिसिपल कमिश्नर विपिन इटणकर ने दो विरासत पेड़ों को काटने की अनुमति देने के अपने शुरुआती फैसले को वापस ले लिया, जिससे यह अनुमति आईजीजीएमसीएच द्वारा ईसी प्राप्त करने पर निर्भर हो गई। यही शर्त ऑडिटोरियम के प्रस्ताव पर भी लागू होती है। ईसी की अनुपस्थिति के कारण एनएमसी टाउन प्लानिंग विभाग ने भवन योजना की मंजूरी भी रोक दी है।
