Former Street Child Runs Mumbai Cafe Offering Second Chances
TOI - Lifestyle · lifestyle
Amin Sheikh, who ran away from an abusive home at age five and lived on the streets, now runs the Bombay to Barcelona Library Café in Mumbai. The café provides employment and training opportunities for young people who have experienced homelessness. Around 15 individuals work as cooks, baristas, and servers, earning a living and building confidence. Sheikh was inspired by his travels to Barcelona, where he experienced dignity and equality in cafés, a stark contrast to his experiences in India.
