Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel stated that aiding a family in becoming self-reliant is a greater virtue than a holy dip in the Ganga. She emphasized that promoting traditional handicrafts can strengthen livelihoods and foster lasting social change. Patel was speaking at the 93rd Craftroots handicrafts exhibition in Kanpur, which features over 90 artisans from 22 states. The governor urged collaboration between artisans and educational institutions to preserve traditional skills and adapt them to market demands.

उत्तर प्रदेश की राज्यपाल आनंदीबेन पटेल ने कहा कि किसी परिवार को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने में मदद करना गंगा में डुबकी लगाने से बड़ा पुण्य है। उन्होंने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि पारंपरिक हस्तशिल्प को बढ़ावा देने से आजीविका मजबूत हो सकती है और स्थायी सामाजिक परिवर्तन को बढ़ावा मिल सकता है। पटेल कानपुर में 93वीं क्राफ्ट रूट्स हस्तशिल्प प्रदर्शनी में बोल रही थीं, जिसमें 22 राज्यों के 90 से अधिक कारीगर शामिल हैं। राज्यपाल ने पारंपरिक कौशल को संरक्षित करने और उन्हें बाजार की मांगों के अनुकूल बनाने के लिए कारीगरों और शैक्षणिक संस्थानों के बीच सहयोग का आग्रह किया।
