NCPCR Must Actively Monitor Child Abuse Complaints, Says CIC

Hindustan Times · india

The Central Information Commission (CIC) has ruled that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) cannot simply forward child abuse complaints and wait for replies. Instead, the commission must actively monitor the actions taken to address alleged violations of children's rights. This directive came during an RTI appeal concerning allegations of physical abuse against disabled children at a school in Gulbarga, Karnataka. The CIC emphasized that the NCPCR's role involves due diligence and ensuring appropriate follow-up, not just forwarding complaints without effective oversight.
