Yemen Offensive Sees Advances Against Houthis Near Key Bab al-Mandeb Strait

Yemen's internationally recognised government has launched a significant counter-offensive, named Dawn of Yemen, recapturing territory from the Iran-backed Houthis along the Red Sea coast. The Saudi-led coalition is supporting the operation with 100 fighter jets to secure the vital Bab al-Mandeb strait. This marks the most consequential escalation since the 2022 UN truce, with success depending on government forces' cohesion and ability to push back the Houthis. The western coast, particularly the Tihama plain, is identified as a critical front where the Houthis are most exposed to airpower.
