Scientists report climate change was a major factor in the deadly glacial mountain collapse that flooded parts of Nepal and Tibet last month, killing over 1,400 people and leaving thousands missing. Researchers from the World Weather Attribution group stated the disaster resulted from a compound crisis of warming, glacier retreat, and permafrost thaw. This event highlights the vulnerability of regions like Nepal, which contribute minimally to global emissions but face severe climate.
