WhatsApp May Soon Roll Out New Shortcuts For Android and iPhone Users

Times of India · technology

WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature called "Message Text Actions" or "Smart Text Actions" for both Android and iOS users. This feature automatically detects phone numbers, dates, addresses, and email IDs within chats, offering contextual shortcuts. Users will see a dotted underline beneath detected text, and tapping it will bring up a popup with available actions like calling a number or adding a date to the calendar. The detection happens on-device, ensuring privacy and not affecting end-to-end encryption. This aims to reduce the need for copy-pasting information.
