ECI Rejects BJP MLA's Vote Deletion Request

Election Commission of India officials have rejected a request from BJP MLA Abhay Patil to scrutinize and delete approximately 2,598 votes in Belagavi North. The Electoral Registration Officer stated there is no legal provision for bulk deletion during the Special Intensive Revision process. While individual objections can be filed through Booth Level Officers for doubtful electors, the MLA's demand for mass scrutiny was deemed invalid. Patil asserted he was only asking for an inquiry into alleged bogus voters and denied targeting any specific community.

भारत के चुनाव आयोग के अधिकारियों ने बीजेपी विधायक अभय पाटिल के बेलगावी नॉर्थ में करीब 2,598 वोटों की जांच और उन्हें हटाने के अनुरोध को खारिज कर दिया है। निर्वाचक पंजीकरण अधिकारी ने कहा कि स्पेशल इंटेंसिव रिवीजन प्रक्रिया के दौरान थोक में वोट हटाने का कोई कानूनी प्रावधान नहीं है। विधायक की सामूहिक जांच की मांग अमान्य मानी गई। पाटिल ने कहा कि वह केवल कथित फर्जी मतदाताओं की जांच का आग्रह कर रहे थे।
