जेएनयू ने यौन उत्पीड़न के आरोपों की आंतरिक जांच के बाद प्रोफेसर अंगोमचा बिमोल अकोइजम को उनके पद से बर्खास्त कर दिया है। सितंबर में दस छात्रों ने प्रोफेसर के खिलाफ शिकायत दर्ज कराई थी, जिसमें कक्षाओं के दौरान अनुचित व्यवहार और आपत्तिजनक टिप्पणी करने का आरोप लगाया गया था। एक आंतरिक समिति ने शिकायतों की जांच की, सबूत इकट्ठा किए और प्रोफेसर को अपना बचाव पेश करने का मौका दिया। समिति की रिपोर्ट में आरोपों की पुष्टि हुई और सख्त कार्रवाई की सिफारिश की गई, जिसके बाद विश्वविद्यालय प्रशासन ने तत्काल प्रभाव से बर्खास्तगी का आदेश जारी किया।
