TOI - Delhi · india
The Madras High Court has refused anticipatory bail to former Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh in a ₹100 crore private schools recognition cheating case. The court stated that granting bail would paralyze the investigation, especially with 177 victims having come forward to record their statements. Justice V Lakshminarayanan noted that the ex-minister, a politician, might shield an absconding accused if granted bail. The court also clarified that the DVAC does not have exclusive jurisdiction to investigate corruption cases.
