Insurance Regulator Proposes Major Sector Reforms

India's insurance regulator, IRDAI, has proposed significant reforms to curb mis-selling and reduce operational costs within the insurance sector. The consultation paper aims to rework how insurance products are sold, addressing issues like high distributor commissions and excessive business expenses. Proposed changes include capping expenses for life insurance at 15% within two years and general insurance at 25% within the same period. These reforms aim to improve policyholder benefits, leading to better returns and claim payouts.

बीमा क्षेत्र में बड़े सुधारों का प्रस्ताव

भारत के बीमा नियामक, IRDAI, ने बीमा क्षेत्र में गलत बिक्री को रोकने और परिचालन लागत को कम करने के लिए बड़े सुधारों का प्रस्ताव दिया है। परामर्श पत्र का उद्देश्य बीमा उत्पादों को बेचने के तरीके को फिर से तैयार करना है, जिसमें वितरक कमीशन और अत्यधिक व्यावसायिक खर्चों जैसे मुद्दों को संबोधित किया गया है। प्रस्तावित परिवर्तनों में दो साल के भीतर जीवन बीमा के लिए खर्चों को 15% और इसी अवधि के भीतर सामान्य बीमा के लिए 25% तक सीमित करना शामिल है। इन सुधारों का उद्देश्य पॉलिसीधारकों को बेहतर लाभ प्रदान करना है, जिससे बेहतर रिटर्न और दावों का भुगतान हो सके।
