South Korea secured their fourth consecutive men's football gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 by defeating Japan 1-0. However, the victory ceremony was marred by a disappointing incident where officials struggled to properly raise the South Korean flag. Captain Eom Ji-sung expressed his disappointment, stating it was disheartening after their hard-earned achievement. The flag was eventually raised after the national anthem concluded, but the mishap added to existing organisational issues plaguing the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
