A fragment of Dmitry Donskoy's remains, a prince known for a 1380 victory, has been taken to troops. The Russian Orthodox Church states these "saint commanders" will stand with soldiers, symbolizing a close alignment between the church and state. This practice, while not new in Orthodox Christianity, is seen as a "mobilizing myth" connecting Russia's past defense narratives with its current military campaign.
