Most Chemists Sell Medicines Without Prescription: Survey

A nationwide survey revealed that 64% of consumers reported chemists rarely or never asked for a prescription in the past 12 months. Only 15% said their chemist mostly or always refused to sell medicines without one. The findings coincide with a Union Ministry proposal for mandatory CCTV cameras at medical stores to track prescription-medicine sales. The survey also indicated that only 31% of consumers consistently received assistance from a qualified pharmacist.
