UP Panchayat Elections Must Be Held Within 3 Months, Rules High Court

The Allahabad High Court has ordered that Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh must be conducted within three months. The court also upheld the decision to appoint village heads as administrators, allowing them to continue in their roles. The state government had argued for postponing elections, citing delimitation processes. However, the court found this argument insufficient, referencing a previous ruling that deemed a similar legal provision unconstitutional. The Panchayati Raj Minister stated the government respects the judiciary's decision and will study the order before proceeding.

यूपी पंचायत चुनाव 3 महीने में हों, हाई कोर्ट का आदेश

इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने आदेश दिया है कि उत्तर प्रदेश में पंचायत चुनाव तीन महीने के अंदर कराए जाएं। कोर्ट ने ग्राम प्रधानों को प्रशासक नियुक्त करने के फैसले को भी बरकरार रखा, जिससे वे अपनी भूमिकाओं में बने रह सकें। राज्य सरकार ने परिसीमन प्रक्रियाओं का हवाला देते हुए चुनाव स्थगित करने की वकालत की थी। हालांकि, कोर्ट ने इस दलील को अपर्याप्त पाया और एक पिछले फैसले का हवाला दिया जिसमें इसी तरह के कानूनी प्रावधान को असंवैधानिक माना गया था। पंचायती राज मंत्री ने कहा कि सरकार न्यायपालिका के फैसले का सम्मान करती है और आगे बढ़ने से पहले आदेश का अध्ययन करेगी।
