Mehdi, who had a 24-year association with the NC, expressed his inability to align with a party that abandons its electoral pledges.

श्रीनगर से नेशनल कॉन्फ्रेंस (NC) के सांसद और एक प्रमुख नेता आगा सैयद रुहुल्लाह मेहदी ने पार्टी और अपनी लोकसभा सीट से इस्तीफे का ऐलान किया है। उन्होंने चुनाव के दौरान किए गए प्रमुख वादों, जैसे आर्टिकल 370 की बहाली और राजनीतिक कैदियों की रिहाई को प्राथमिकता न देने पर पार्टी नेतृत्व के प्रति असंतोष जताया। 24 साल तक NC से जुड़े रहे मेहदी ने कहा कि वह ऐसे दल के साथ नहीं रह सकते जो अपने चुनावी वादों से पीछे हट जाए।
