Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu has stated his company will not follow rivals in laying off employees, despite increased productivity from AI and rising costs. He reacted to a large workforce reduction at SaaS competitor Airtable, whose executive cited a belief that smaller teams are more efficient. Vembu explained that Zoho retrains employees for new products or customer support when AI boosts productivity. He acknowledged rising data centre and AI infrastructure expenses but emphasized Zoho's commitment to a different workforce strategy compared to venture capital-backed firms.
