Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan announced that the state government will enact a law to provide legal guarantees and protection to senior citizens, a move he claims is a world-first. The government has already established a dedicated department for senior citizens and aims to make them active participants in society. This initiative seeks to address the growing elderly population, projected to be 38% of Keralam's population by 2036.
