The Punjab government has transferred the investigation into the killing of anti-drug activist Parwinder Singh Jhota to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the decision on Tuesday, just hours before Union Home Minister Amit Shah was scheduled to visit Mansa. The slain activist's father had been demanding a CBI inquiry, stating he would raise the issue with Amit Shah if the state government did not comply. The family and an action committee had previously reiterated this demand to a state-formed committee.
