Thousands of students and teachers marched through Athens on Wednesday, protesting the high cost of living and demanding affordable student housing and increased state investment in education. Similar demonstrations occurred in other Greek cities like Thessaloniki and Patras. The protests, fueled by rising fuel costs and concerns over school conditions, echo similar movements across Europe, particularly in France. Students expressed frustration with government aid, deeming it insufficient to cover basic living expenses. Riot police monitored the march, with businesses along the route taking precautions against potential unrest.
