Woman Dies After Uterus Surgery; Relatives Allege Medical Negligence

Relatives of a 49-year-old woman from Vadakara have accused the Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode of medical negligence following her death. The woman, Thankamani, underwent uterus removal surgery on October 8, and her condition reportedly deteriorated after developing a fever and vomiting blood. A scanning procedure revealed an intestinal injury, and despite a second surgery on October 11, she passed away on October 12. The Medical College police have registered a case of unnatural death, and the hospital has initiated an internal inquiry into the incident.
