शारदीय नवरात्रि का पांचवां दिन देवी स्कंद माता की पूजा के लिए समर्पित है। देवी दुर्गा का यह रूप बच्चों के प्रति मातृ प्रेम, स्नेह और सुरक्षा का प्रतीक माना जाता है। भक्त सुख, शांति और अपनी संतान के कल्याण व प्रगति के लिए उनका आशीर्वाद मांगते हैं। देवी, जिन्हें चार भुजाओं वाली और कमल पर विराजमान दर्शाया जाता है, पद्मासन देवी के नाम से भी जानी जाती हैं। भक्त पीली वस्तुएं जैसे फूल, फल और मिठाई चढ़ाते हैं, जिसमें केला एक पारंपरिक प्रसाद है, और पारिवारिक सुख से जुड़ी मनोकामनाओं की पूर्ति चाहते हैं।
