Underworld Operative Arrested for Extortion Threats to Udupi Businessmen

An underworld operative, Hemanth Poojary, allegedly targeted businessmen in Udupi district with extortion threats, demanding crores of rupees and threatening them with death. He reportedly called from international numbers, referencing a recent murder to instill fear. Police have registered eight cases related to these threats. During the investigation, Harish Poojary, 45, was arrested for allegedly providing mobile numbers of wealthy individuals to Hemanth Poojary, facilitating the extortion attempts. Two mobile phones used in the crime were seized.

हेमंत पुजारी नाम के एक अंडरवर्ल्ड ऑपरेटिव ने कथित तौर पर उडुपी जिले के व्यापारियों को धमकी देकर करोड़ों रुपये की फिरौती मांगी और जान से मारने की धमकी दी। उसने हाल ही में हुई हत्या का जिक्र करके डर पैदा करने के लिए कथित तौर पर अंतरराष्ट्रीय नंबरों से फोन किया था। पुलिस ने इन धमकियों से संबंधित आठ मामले दर्ज किए हैं। जांच के दौरान, 45 वर्षीय हरीश पुजारी को हेमंत पुजारी को अमीर व्यक्तियों के मोबाइल नंबर कथित तौर पर उपलब्ध कराने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया था, जिससे फिरौती की कोशिशों को अंजाम दिया जा सके। अपराध में इस्तेमाल किए गए दो मोबाइल फोन जब्त किए गए।
