Irish Consent Ad Featuring Grandparents Pulled After Criticism
BBC World · world
An advertisement promoting consent by the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) has been removed after facing criticism for being "inappropriate and demeaning to grandparents." The ad depicted grandparents enthusiastically hugging a young boy, but showed a granddaughter appearing unhappy with the interaction, carrying the message that not everyone wants a hug. Ireland's Minister for Justice, Jim O'Callaghan, whose department funds the campaign, stated the video did not represent government views and was counterproductive.
