US stocks experienced significant losses on Friday, with the Nasdaq composite recording its steepest single-day percentage decline since June 5. Investor sentiment was dampened by concerns over the scale of investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and the time needed for returns. Disappointing quarterly results from Intel and Amazon further fueled the technology selloff. The Nasdaq plunged 2.86 per cent, while the S&P 500 shed 1.82 per cent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 1.09 per cent.
