Bank accounts can face debit freezes if unknowingly receiving funds linked to cybercrime proceeds, blocking withdrawals and transfers. Previously, resolving these freezes was difficult, but new systems like the Money Restoration Module (MRM) and Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM) are simplifying the process. These mechanisms aim to protect innocent account holders from arbitrary financial restrictions and provide an opportunity to explain transactions. Delhi Police has already resolved thousands of requests through these channels, offering much-needed relief.
