Hindustan Times · india

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has identified drought, massive crop losses, and potential drinking water and fodder shortages as the state's biggest immediate challenges. He stated that approximately 75 percent of the state's crops have been affected, leading to significant losses. The government is planning measures to address these issues, including potential problems with drinking water and a shortage of fodder for cattle in the coming months. This situation is exacerbated by El Niño's impact on the monsoon and the fact that 52 percent of Maharashtra's geographical area is drought-prone.
