UP CEO Orders Legal Action Over Pilibhit Voter Roll Errors

Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has ordered legal action against officials responsible for significant discrepancies found in the Pilibhit assembly constituency's electoral rolls. Online searches using voter EPIC numbers were incorrectly displaying details of other electors, prompting an inquiry. Rinwa directed the immediate correction of these errors and the removal of the Pilibhit electoral registration officer and voter registration centre operator from their duties. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them under the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी नवदीप रिणवा ने पीलीभीत विधानसभा क्षेत्र की मतदाता सूची में पाई गई बड़ी गड़बड़ियों के लिए जिम्मेदार अधिकारियों के खिलाफ कानूनी कार्रवाई का आदेश दिया है। मतदाता पहचान पत्र (EPIC) नंबरों का उपयोग करके ऑनलाइन खोज में गलत मतदाताओं का विवरण दिख रहा था, जिसके बाद जांच शुरू की गई। रिणवा ने इन त्रुटियों को तुरंत ठीक करने और पीलीभीत के निर्वाचक पंजीकरण अधिकारी और मतदाता पंजीकरण केंद्र ऑपरेटर को उनके कर्तव्यों से हटाने का निर्देश दिया। जनप्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम, 1950 और भारतीय न्याय संहिता के तहत उनके खिलाफ कानूनी कार्यवाही शुरू की गई है।
