Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) continued their withdrawal from Indian equities, with selling exceeding Rs 52,000 crore in October as of the week ending October 16. This outflow surpasses the entire amount withdrawn in September, despite a strong recovery in domestic stocks. The Nifty gained 2.8% and the Sensex advanced 3.1% during the week, driven by technology stocks. Domestic institutional investors absorbed some of the foreign selling, supporting the market. Rising global bond yields and uncertainty over US interest rates are key factors driving foreign investor caution.
