Vedanta Invests $600 Million To Double South African Zinc Capacity

Vedanta Ltd has invested nearly $600 million to double its annual zinc production capacity in South Africa to 500,000 tonnes. This expansion at the Gamsberg mine is part of a larger ambition to reach 3 million tonnes of annual zinc production across India and South Africa. The investment, inaugurated by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, is one of the largest mining investments in South Africa this decade. Zinc is crucial for industrial and infrastructure development, particularly for protecting steel from corrosion in construction, automotive, and manufacturing sectors.
