India cannot simply stop buying Russian oil due to global supply constraints and the needs of its 1.4 billion people, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated. Switching suppliers would increase prices as the available global oil pool is limited. She emphasized prioritizing India's interests and ensuring domestic energy security. Sitharaman also noted technical limitations of Indian refineries in processing certain types of crude, adding complexity to sourcing alternatives.

वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने कहा कि भारत रूस से तेल खरीदना एकदम से बंद नहीं कर सकता। उन्होंने बताया कि दुनिया भर में तेल की सप्लाई कम है और हमारे 140 करोड़ लोगों की ज़रूरतें भी हैं। सप्लायर बदलने से कीमतें बढ़ेंगी क्योंकि दुनिया में तेल का भंडार सीमित है। सीतारमण ने कहा कि भारत के हितों को प्राथमिकता देना और ऊर्जा सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करना ज़रूरी है।
