Punjab Drugs Challenge Shifts To Pharma Smuggling

Punjab's drug enforcement challenge is shifting from heroin to pharmaceutical drugs smuggled from other states. The state government claims its anti-drug operations have reduced heroin availability, but pharmaceutical narcotics now pose a significant threat. Around 80% of these drugs reportedly originate from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi. Punjab is engaging with these states to tighten regulations on manufacturing and distribution to curb the diversion of medicines.

पंजाब में अब हेरोइन की जगह दूसरे राज्यों से आ रही दवाइयों का नशा बड़ा खतरा बन गया है। सरकार का कहना है कि हेरोइन की सप्लाई तो कम हुई है, लेकिन फार्मास्युटिकल नशीली दवाएं चिंता का विषय हैं। इनमें से करीब 80% दवाएं गुजरात, उत्तर प्रदेश, राजस्थान, हरियाणा और दिल्ली से आ रही हैं। पंजाब इन राज्यों से मिलकर दवाइयों के निर्माण और वितरण पर सख्ती करने की बात कर रहा है।
