MSME Body Suggests SME Growth Fund Aid For Stressed Loan Accounts

Business Standard · business

The Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) has proposed that the newly approved ₹10,000-crore SME Growth Fund (SGF) should also support financially stressed MSMEs. This includes enterprises with loan accounts classified as Special Mention Account-2 (SMA-2) or non-performing assets (NPAs), provided they present a credible revival plan. SMA-2 accounts indicate loan payments overdue by 61-90 days, while NPAs are typically over 90 days overdue. Experts agree that timely intervention through dedicated funding can help viable businesses recover from temporary financial stress.
