CPI(M) Threatens Agitation Over Pathanamthitta ESA

The CPI(M) is threatening an indefinite agitation in Pathanamthitta over the proposed Ecologically Sensitive Area (ESA). The party demands the UDF government seek complete exclusion of seven villages from the draft notification. This comes after the State submitted a revised proposal to the Centre, but none of the Pathanamthitta villages were included in the exclusion list. Protesters argue that demarcating ESA boundaries will be difficult and could lead to disputes. The UDF government maintains its revised proposal excludes inhabited areas and agricultural land.
