Srinagar MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi has announced his resignation from the National Conference party, citing broken promises regarding Article 370 restoration and other electoral pledges. Mehdi, who won the Srinagar seat on the NC ticket in 2024, accused party leadership of abandoning the fight for special status. He stated that claims about restoring Article 370, releasing prisoners, and providing free electricity were lies. Mehdi indicated he would send his resignation to the Lok Sabha Speaker soon and hinted at forming a new political movement to restore dignity and rights.

श्रीनगर के सांसद आगा रूहुल्लाह मेहदी ने अनुच्छेद 370 की बहाली और अन्य चुनावी वादों को लेकर टूटे वादों का हवाला देते हुए नेशनल कॉन्फ्रेंस पार्टी से अपने इस्तीफे की घोषणा की है। मेहदी, जिन्होंने 2024 में NC के टिकट पर श्रीनगर सीट जीती थी, पर विशेष दर्जे की लड़ाई छोड़ने का आरोप लगाया। उन्होंने कहा कि अनुच्छेद 370 की बहाली, कैदियों की रिहाई और मुफ्त बिजली देने के दावे झूठ थे। मेहदी ने संकेत दिया कि वह जल्द ही लोकसभा अध्यक्ष को अपना इस्तीफा भेजेंगे और गरिमा और अधिकारों को बहाल करने के लिए एक नए राजनीतिक आंदोलन का गठन करने का संकेत दिया।
