Vijayawada-Machilipatnam NH-65 Six-Laning Tender Floated Sans Underpasses

The National Highways Authority of India has floated tenders for widening the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam stretch of NH-65 from four to six lanes. However, vehicle underpasses at key junctions like Kanuru and Tadigadapa have been excluded from the project. NHAI cited the need to facilitate construction of the proposed PNBS-Penamaluru metro corridor as the reason for this exclusion. Local residents oppose the move, fearing increased traffic congestion and signal delays, which would negate the benefits of the six-laning project.
