The Delhi Jal Board has approved new water and sewer regulations for 2026, replacing existing 2012 rules. A significant change allows individual water connections for every dwelling unit, regardless of building height, provided storage norms are met. This will benefit renters by ending reliance on shared water supplies and addressing scarcity issues. The process for new connections is also being expedited, potentially reducing the current 40-50 day timeline. Additionally, fewer documents will be required for applications, and provisions for faulty meters and rainwater harvesting rebates are included.

दिल्ली जल बोर्ड ने 2012 के मौजूदा नियमों को बदलकर 2026 के लिए नए पानी और सीवर नियम मंजूर कर दिए हैं। एक बड़ा बदलाव यह है कि हर रहने की जगह को, चाहे इमारत कितनी भी ऊंची हो, अगर स्टोरेज के नियम पूरे होते हैं तो अलग पानी कनेक्शन मिल सकेगा। इससे किराएदारों को फायदा होगा क्योंकि उन्हें अब साझा पानी की सप्लाई पर निर्भर नहीं रहना पड़ेगा और पानी की कमी की समस्या भी हल होगी। नए कनेक्शन के लिए प्रक्रिया भी तेज की जा रही है, जिससे मौजूदा 40-50 दिन का समय कम हो सकता है।
