Pediatric Congenital Conditions Face Follow-Up Gaps

A study found that 43% of patients with pediatric congenital conditions were lost to long-term follow-up after surgery. Only 3% of the 337 patients studied completed a formal transition from pediatric to adult care. Follow-up loss was highest among patients with anorectal malformations, affecting 61% of this group. This highlights a critical gap in ongoing care for individuals with lifelong health needs, particularly those who appear to be recovering well.

एक स्टडी में पता चला है कि सर्जरी के बाद 43% बच्चों को लंबे समय तक फॉलो-अप के लिए नहीं मिल पाया। जिन 337 बच्चों पर स्टडी हुई, उनमें से सिर्फ 3% ही बच्चों से बड़ों वाली देखभाल में ठीक से शिफ्ट हो पाए। एनोरेक्टल मालफॉर्मेशन वाले बच्चों में फॉलो-अप लॉस सबसे ज़्यादा था, जो 61% था। यह उन लोगों के लिए देखभाल में एक बड़ी कमी दिखाता है जिन्हें ज़िंदगी भर स्वास्थ्य समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ता है।
