Supreme Court Issues Contempt Notice Over Delhi Metro Shutdown

The Supreme Court has issued a contempt of court notice to the Home Secretary, Delhi Police Commissioner, and Delhi Metro after authorities defied its orders regarding protests. Despite the court directing that metro stations not be fully shut and train services not be halted, around 57 stations were sealed, and trains were stopped. The court had warned against using excessive force for law and order, stating a hammer should not be used to kill a fly.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने गृह सचिव, दिल्ली पुलिस आयुक्त और दिल्ली मेट्रो को अदालत की अवमानना का नोटिस जारी किया है। यह आदेश विरोध प्रदर्शनों के संबंध में कोर्ट के निर्देशों का पालन न करने पर दिया गया है। कोर्ट ने कहा था कि मेट्रो स्टेशनों को पूरी तरह से बंद न किया जाए और ट्रेनों की आवाजाही रोकी न जाए। इसके बावजूद, लगभग 57 स्टेशनों को सील कर दिया गया और ट्रेनों को रोक दिया गया। कोर्ट ने कानून व्यवस्था के लिए अत्यधिक बल प्रयोग के खिलाफ चेतावनी दी थी और कहा था कि मक्खी मारने के लिए हथौड़े का इस्तेमाल नहीं किया जाना चाहिए।
